The Oil Distributor: Nikki Merrell

I'm not a hippy. I like red meat, power tools, America, and drink milk from a cow, not from a nut. That being said, here's the story of my cousin, the Essential Oil distributor. I was first introduced to essential oils by my construction boss. Imagine a big burly bearded guy. His leg was as thick around as my whole body. He used power tools all day. He also had a little pouch full of little vials of oils that he carried to help with his daily ailments. It was kind of funny, this big manly man carrying a small pouch of dainty vials, but he loved them. He had an oil for losing weight, a couple for reducing inflammation, one for sunburns, sore muscles, etc. He tried to get me using them.

I'm not entirely sold on all of the oils. I like how lavender oil smells, and I love making mint truffles with peppermint oil. I also once put some peppermint oil on a buddy's deodorant, and that was something I believe in as well, for others, not me (hilarious!). I also am absolutely sold on the oil blend called Deep Blue. Best muscle rub I've found. All that being said, I have a cousin who loves them, and has been working a side gig selling them. Here's her story.

Nikki is just a couple years younger than I am. She served an LDS mission and came home with a collection of health problems. She was getting discouraged along with all her health struggles and stumbled on essential oils. Nikki met a girl who was going through a lot of the same challenges as she was, and the girl introduced her to the voodoo world of essential oils.

From Nikki:

I decided to give this whole "essential oil" thing a go. She (Nikki’s friend) talked about balancing my emotions and physically healing with good diet and practicing using essential oils daily. I was super skeptical at first and decided to buy the cheaper oils so that I didn't buy something outrageous and have it not work. I didn't expect it TO work and then I was stuck having this "hobby" that was incredibly expensive. (to a college student living off of a small income). I decided that I would try selling these oils to get free oils for myself. I didn't realize that it would be so easy and fun to sell. Soon I was able to get free oils for myself, and invest myself in learning about something that was so sweet and incredibly valuable not just in the "oil world". How to value myself and how to run a business. I get to better myself financially and physically while meeting new people on the way. Also, it's always nice to get side money that you can just stash in a savings account while doing something you love.

The Numbers:

Nikki makes about $200 per month from being a distributor. She also gets about $180 of free product every month from her efforts as well.

Freebie!

Nikki recently started a facebook page about her oils and natural living. As part of that, she is giving away three full sized essential oils. Since I’m all about freebies, I entered! Here’s the link to that give away. It ends Jan 31st of this year! Check out her page and follow it to see how her story continues!
