About Lance


Lance Merrell graduated from Utah Valley University in 2016 with a Bachelors degree in Political Science and a minor in Constitutional Studies. A Presidential Scholar at UVU, Lance was on the Dean’s list every semester while at UVU. During his time at UVU, Lance spent a year and a half at the Center for Constitutional Studies, where he assisted with research and presentations on a variety of topics including: federalism, the power of the executive, and religious liberty. He also ran the Center's YouTube live streaming of events, as well as their advertising. Lance also helped pioneer the Center's partnership with Oxford University, helping to launch Oxford's Quill Project to the public.

Lance was also a member of the UVU track and field team, helping his team win a conference title in 2012. Lance is also currently a volunteer track coach at Maple Mountain High School. Lance served a two-year LDS mission in Portland, Oregon. Lance has applied to a number of graduate school programs and has a few scholarship opportunities., Lance currently works for the Office of New Urban Mechanics, a local civic innovation office, where he is working on a free online civic engagement course for the community, as well as organizing a civic innovation scholarship contest.

Lance started a recycling business that grew to service about 10% of the town of Mapleton in Utah.

He and his brothers ran that business for 12 years, before selling it. Lance runs 3 YouTube Channels: Constitution Guru, Jump Master, and his own personal channel.

Lance is happily married to the love of his life, Michelle Merrell. They have been married for over a year, love being outside, going on cruises, and living life as an adventure.

My power company just sent me free LED bulbs. If your power company has offered this, and you haven't taken advantage of it, DO IT! If I had traditional incandescent bulbs in my house to begin with, there would be 720 watts of power in just the lights. The LED bulbs brought that number down to 92. That is effectively 1/8th the power. I wrote a paper about cost savings on a government housing project for switching to LED lighting. My wife wants me to wear lipstick

          At my last job I was responsible for filming and live streaming events. I've filmed footage for a couple online classes and I run three YouTube channels. You wouldn't think filming an advertisement for my wife's makeup company would be a big deal. She wants me to be the model in the commercial though, modeling some girly lip-stuff.            How did I get in this mess? Well, for me it started on our wedding day. My wife wanted to kiss me but also wanted to wear lipstick, pink lipstick. I wore lipstick that day, but it was second hand, and I carried a tissue to wipe it off. I love passive income. Those who know me also know I love saving money. Finding ways to turn expenses into income just makes me giddy. Here was the situation. I enjoy outdoor activities and have a lot of gear — more than I should have. Like, I’ve got 7 sleeping bags right now for my family of 3, and about that many sleeping pads  and hammocks . There’s a lot. I also have a lot of gear that I don’t use all that often, but I don’t really want to get rid of it. I probably should get rid of it, but I don’t want to.
