You Need to Know This About Paid Surveys!

The Penny Hoarder is not your friend. They penny hoarder runs a website that will come out with a list every so often about ways to make money. The easiest and most "do-able" option they list every time are different paid survey opportunities. I was bored, naive, and wanted to make more money. I took the bait and downloaded a couple survey apps.  Having tried a few others since deciding to write this article, I'll give you what you need to know about these different survey options.

General Survey Information:
I haven't earned enough to cash out from any one of these. This isn't to say that it can't be done. I have points and cash in each of the different apps saved up, but they all require you to meet a minimum threshold before you can cash out.

"That's like a dollar an hour"
It's difficult to reach the minimum threshold when you only make about a dollar an hour, which is about how much I made doing surveys. Theoretically, you could make more than this, but you have to be the perfect match for their surveys. It is really annoying to spend ten minutes on a survey and then have it tell you, sorry, you're not a match. After this would happen two or three times in a row, I would lose patience with the app or website and quit.

Second Screen:
Most people, especially millennials, watch TV with their phone in their hand. If you are watching TV and scrolling through Facebook, and want to do something a bit more productive for yourself, I would try the surveys. I can think of few other times I would recommend paid surveys, those would be on the john, if you were sick in bed, or if you are obsessed with quantitative data.

Different Survey Programs:

MintVine:
If I were to say I had a favorite survey website, it would be MintVine. Like the other survey options, this website doesn't pay a lot, but it has a pretty quick pay out at $10. I was also told that I didn't qualify for a survey the least on this website. You can get paid out in PayPal, which I like. This one doesn't have a mobile app yet, but the website is fairly mobile friendly. This app does offer a referral bonus, and this is the only app I will list a referral link to, because it's the only one I would refer you to. You also will get a 200 point ($2 bonus) with your first survey when you sign up with my link. Click on the gray box below if you want to give it a try:
InboxDollars:
This one is a pretty glitchy survey system. I tried this one because it has more than surveys for making money. You can also watch some ads, and they send you email offers which you confirm for two cents each. I have $17 dollars stored up from using this app for six months. Unfortunately, you need $30 to cash out. If you are thinking of just using this to make money from junk mail (another Penny Hoarder suggestion) you'll have to wait about three years before you get enough junk mail points to cash out. I wouldn't waste your time with this one. There is a referral bonus, but I discourage this one to the point that I won't even give you my code!

I Say Ipsos
My sister in-law introduced me to this survey website. This option is almost as smooth as Mint Vine. It is easy to use and can pay out in either PayPal or gift cards. I would recommend this website if you really want to get into surveys. Maybe you are the perfect demographic that never gets skipped over in a survey. I would make this your number two option after Mint Vine, if you are the survey type.

Rewardable:
This app is supposed to be another app that lets you do multiple things along with survey. The first couple days I tried it I loved it. Then it stopped working. I would do a survey and it would say error. I don't know if they've fixed it, or if their company is even still viable, but I'm not going to look into it again.

  2. I don't know if you've heard of Yougov, but essentially you answer some political and you can get gift cards. I find these more interesting than answering which snacks I've eaten in the past year.
