Making Money on YouTube: You Can Do It!

There are all sorts of lousy YouTube videos out there. It is surprising that some of them get as many views as they do. Do you realize that the people who made these videos are making some good money from them? I make a bit more than $1 for every 1000 views I get on a video, so if you see videos on YouTube, you can start to imagine how much people are making from their monetized videos (To learn how to monetize your YouTube videos, watch this quick video tutorial). Gangnum Style has the most views on YouTube right now with 2,780,694,120 views (as of 3/7/2017). Following my formula, they have made about $3,000,000 just from the add revenue from that. Then you have to consider that they are also selling copies of that song, and the video only helps them sell the music. The creators of that song and video are doing alright. It's hard to just start making videos though, and it's hard to imagine what people are going to watch.
If you remember, I posted a video about how to add Amazon affiliate ads to your Blogger/Blogspot blog on my Amazon Works For Me blog post. Using simple, free, screen capture software, I created a new video that is very similar to this one. In fact, before making my video, I watched this guy's video and decided that I could do at least as well as he did. Is that conceited? Yes. Will it make me money? Yes. Does this violate copyright? No. It is a simple tutorial. This person does not own Amazon or Blogger, so there is no problem with making another video on the same topic. It also benefits me that Amazon has updated the look of their affiliate site. It works about the same, but an updated video becomes cutting edge, where as the other guy's video, though only a year old, is just about obsolete.

Other Guy's Video (Just watch a few seconds to get the idea):

My Video:

If you have ever searched for tutorials on YouTube, you usually find a few different videos that teach the same thing. You can learn how to do anything from YouTube. I know of a guy who was a mechanic. I say was because a few years back he started filming himself as he was fixing cars. He retired from being a mechanic and his videos continue to make him money. On the other side of that situation, my dad does a lot of work on cars. He usually watches a few tutorials on how to fix a certain problem, then picks his favorite one and watches that one again as he is fixing it. If you have the better video, yours will rise to the top. Pick something that you are either an expert in, or that you want to be an expert in. The easiest way to start a YouTube channel is to incorporate it with whatever you may be already doing, just like the mechanic. People watch videos on everything, from cooking and scrap booking to video games. There is something you can make videos from in your life that you are already doing. Start filming it! It'll keep making you money!
I made my first YouTube channel as a track coach, coaching high jump and long jump. My equipment consisted of my phone, and some free video editing software that Microsoft provided. I created more and more, specifically on techniques that I was teaching my kids. I would usually look for videos on YouTube first that would teach it better than I could, but then I would usually end up having to film one myself. I didn't have to think up much content, I just did it along with what I was already doing. It helped out the kids I was coaching, and it continues to make me money today. My most successful video (monetarily) I made because I was trying to convince basketball players that they should come try high jump in track. It's crude, and you can see the basic video editing software, but here it is. I am not ashamed of it because it continues to make me money. I forget how much I looked like a child. The point is that anyone can start a YouTube channel and can make videos that make money. What's your thing? I coach long jump, high jump, and now finance (millennial style) and blogging. Make some videos and make some money! Now, enjoy a snippet from my glory days.
