Sam's Club Membership for $5? Yes Please!
I love my Sams Club membership. Why would a student want a membership to a bulk store? My wife would say its for the dried mangoes, but I like it because it saves me quite a bit of money (until my wife spends it all on the mangoes).
I found the very best deal available for a Sam's Membership (practically free) but I'm going to tell you why, even as a student, I would get one at full price myself. If you don't want to hear why, I get it. Math will be involved and the semester is over. Just scroll down so you can get the deal. I had to email the corporate people to get this deal for y'all.
Why Its Worth It!
I could talk about the good shopping, or the free fruit snacks I got from the freeosk. Most important to me though is gas. I drive a truck, so I buy a lot of gas. I have been trying to carpool with my wife a bit more, so I end up filling up both vehicles about once every week and a half, instead of every week. I save a gross total of over $100 per year on gas with a membership.
Here's the boring math:
Sam's Club saves me about $0.10 per gallon on gas.
My wife and I usually use 20 gallons in a week.
52 Weeks in a year multiplied by $2 saved each time equals $104 per year.
How much does a Sam's club membership cost?
$45 dollars. My wife would pay that just for the mangoes she gets there, but just on gas it saves me a net total of about $60 per year just on gas.
But wait, there's more! (I've always wanted to sound like an infomercial)
How can I get a membership practically for free?
I emailed some people at Sam's Club. I mentioned that I wanted to write about them and their membership and they sent me back this awesome deal for my readers, YOU!
If you buy a membership for $45 they will give you the following with it:
A $20 Sam's Club gift card
A rotisserie chicken
An apple pie
A 36 count bag of rolls
Total value: $39.94
That means you can get a membership for essentially $5! I fill up my truck three times after that and it's more than paid for itself. Who's got mad coupon skills? ME!
So, if you eat food and plan on filling up your car at least five times in a year, YOU NEED THIS!!!

Once you've gotten this, I want an invite for some of that pie. I'll bring the whipped cream.
Because people in retail like to be annoying, this is only available in the month of May.
Costco People:
I know there are lots of my Costco friends out there that say theirs is better. Costco pizza is much better than Sam's Club's, that's fair. Costco savings are similar, but their membership costs $55 and I haven't found a discount on them. It saves me the most to go with Sam's. My mom uses both, but she had to feed five sons and my dad. One bulk store couldn't keep up. If you've thought about getting both, this is the best way to do it!
